IBR failures should be covered under warranty

Seadoo issues a service bulletin explaining which parts to order to fix the failed IBR systems. It is a known fact that they all fail (2009-2010).
So after spending big money on a machine with the IBR system, now all of those owners are required to spend approximately $1400 to fix what I feel is an engineering issue.

I have purchased all of the parts suggested (u-arm, bracket, hardware, and bushing). Now I just have to spend another $1200 on the new actuator. What a scam.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be another option. These parts have to be replaced in order to use the machine, as it can't even be bypassed.

I have attached the service bulletin.

Seadoo should be embarrassed. Step up and take responsibility for your poor design.

They have done it before on previous years just like ceramic supercharger washers , and remember when they first came out with fuel injected models . I personally will not buy anything new that seadoo makes because of that reason. I'm also wondering about that plasma coating that's new on the 300s

And that $1400 doesn't include any labor. I'll end up doing it myself. But if I didn't...you can add at least a few hundred more for a shop to do it.
Add this to the $400 it's costing me to have the supercharger rebuilt (again, no labor factored in). Lifting the top deck of the IS equipped ski to get access to the supercharger is not fun, or easy.

I just sent you a PM. Is the 1200 USD or CAD?

I just rebuilt my supercharger on my rxt x I pulled it out and had pwc Muscle rebuild it . They do a good job but you have to ship it one way

There were plenty of these replaced by BRP under warranty. If you are out of warranty by a little bit they will still normally replace as this is a known issue but if you're out of warranty by like 5 years I hope you're not expecting them to cover it. It was never a recall item so don't expect them to replace at their expense. The old square design was the original design and just had some electronic issues but it was updated to a much better and more robust design, but not cheap.

I've helped several people here with this repair by getting them parts and coaching them through the install. Read the thread below and let me know if you need help.

Sorry, I meant recall....not warranty.
Like you said, it is a known issue. Unfortunately these aren't regulated like cars, so they can't force a recall.
Pretty shitty on Seadoo's part though.

I'll be buying my actuator this week, and then I'll get started on the replacement.
Thanks for the info.
