Update: Now looking at a 1996 Speedster from a person who will take it out on the lake with me (What should I look for?) for $4,000. I plan on making sure both engines run similarily by themselves and making sure hte intake isn't all chipped up... but not too sure what else (oh yah and oil to not be milky).

It's 5495 for a 1997 which seems expensive. Any input? Thanks! Where else can I find one?

that is high. keep your eye on the classifieds here, they pop up for sale. You should be able to get a mint one for $4500ish. I bought my 97 for $3000, but its not as clean as the one you pictured.

I'm sorry that's a sporster and I'm also interested in a Sportster and I realized that those were two different types of boats so now I'm looking for both. Thanks!

Yeah Im still learning myself!! One thing I def learned was....if they wont put it in the water for you....then dont buy it.

Hey...I am like 20 min up the road from you in OK...Keep an eye on Dallas craigslist...I have noticed the older models popping up now that summer is ending and people dont want to sit on them over the winter...

I'm looking there that's where I found that 4000 one. I keep hearing it's kind of steep but I can't find better

i might be selling my 95 speedster soon for 3k. and i am in the dallas area. not to far from you.

i am going to go look at a different boat today and if i buy it i will be selling mine.

it has some normal issues for 15 years old, but if i was to fix them i would sell for 4000-4500 myself.

at 3k i am not profiting as that is what i paid for it.

Most of the folks on the site assume when you buy a boat at that age, you are going to have to throw some money at it...At 4000, it doesn't give you much wiggle room..But, if its a 9 outta 10 I would say 4,000 isn't something to run away from...

Okay thanks a lot. I know the 96 has a newer style engine than the 95 that was used until 01 in some models but I just don't know.thanks for all the help.interested in the 95 for sure

i picked mine up a week ago on craigs for $2600. its about a 8.5 outta 10. runs great feel like i got a steal on it. it's a 96 model. interior very good and hydroturf already installed. he was asking $3500 for it but was a college kid. i offered it and he took it.
