I put the tether on and hit the start button and all i hear is the fuel pump and the click every time i hit the start button. I know the battery is good because i put it in my lawn tractor to test it. (it cranked harder than with its normal battery).

I tried tapping on the side of the starter - didnt do anything
I tried jumping the solenoid - just sparks and nothing happens

I don't know if i'm jumping the right part but i would assume so. See attached picture.. I just jumped the bottom red cable to the top cable with a wrench.(touching the two studs)

When i started rebuilding the jet ski the starter, solenoid, and battery were all in perfect working order? Did i not reground something right? I have the red right on the bolt sticking out of the starter. The big ground on the bottom of the motor in the same bolt, and all of the little grounds under the bolt on the front of the motor.

Please help im trying to get up to the cabin tonight and i don't want to leave this jetski at home.

If you just get sparks when you jump the solenoid... then the starter is locked up.

Take it out, clean it... install new brushes, and you should be fine.

I was just working on it again and i got it to crank over i gave the starter a tap and jumped it. This time i made sure to hold it on tight and it cranks over now. But when i hit the start button it just thunks and doesnt crank it. It only cranked one time hitting the start button. (i pushed it about 10 times after and it wouldnt crank anymore just click)

So does this mean its a faulty solenoid?

Yes... if it will crank when you jump the solenoid, but it only "Clicks" when you push the start button... that would be a bad solenoid.

Oh... and you are welcome.
