well my brother calls me on a wensday and tells me to get a jet ski stand made and shows up friday with it like this....

he bought it off ebay and it runs great, but it needs some minor things from my point of view... there are missing guages which im not sure if the ski came with them stock or the hood is either optional or from a diffrent ski. and on the left side there was duct tape with a perfect circle in it, just above the left foot area that i found out was for the fuel that the previous owner moved to the right side of the ski. so i caped it off and gleaned the duck tape off...

any one swear by these duck bill things... instead of the stock screw in plugs?

i had a 97 seadoo xp before this one.. but there is some difference between the two ski's.. i also have a js550 that needs some work..

the ski and the stand i made for it....

so far i had it out once and a exhaust clamp broke so it ended my 20 minute ride..

what is the trick to turning these things... ive rode jetskis before and ive read how the hx needs some getting used to but this thing is super unstable... just trying to sit at idle in the water wasnt happening.....

An HX is almost as hard to ride as a stand-up. It's all about technique.

I can tell you how to ride... but it won't matter until you find your balance. The key is to keep the pump loaded. As soon as the pump unloads... you will slide, and go flying.

ok so keep the pump loaded...

my first run went like this, at my local sandy fresh water beach so no tight boat launch areas to worry about... its easier checking over the jet ski in knee deep water where i can have the covers off while its running and peak around to make sure hull aint taking on water...

1. started with rear cover and front open to ponder around making sure nothing odd was happening.

2. test throttle under load while me my brother and friend hold jet ski even slightly lifted like ive seen the jet ski races start.

3. i tried to sit still on it while my brother took one last look in the hull to make sure no water was coming in..

4. i took off on it. trying to idle out the 5mph zone so i can wack the throttle and see what this thing has.

5. trying to make a slight left turn seemed ok at first but im only talking a 90 degree turn... as soon as i made the left turn i wacked the throttle and was skimming across the water in no time.

6. tried to make a couple s turns and quickly realized this was no a xp i was used to riding.

7. made some basic turns which deffinitly looked like i didnt know what i was doing..

8. next rip back was next to another older seadoo he had no chance..

9. i pulled in where we where checking the ski out and slide it on a little grass river bank which got the jetski out the water and i opened the compartments up again... no water and nothing weird.

10. my brother took it for a little ride and brought it back.

11. i get back on it and i try to show it who's boss. but there came the hassle.. i couldnt make sharp turns it just seemed like once i get into it i cant make the turn. so i tried a couple more times got thrown off a couple times

12. the final turn i was coming into it and went to gas it to yank it thru the turn and i heard a pop and the ski went dead... thank fully i wasnt far from shore and the ski wouldnt start.. so i swam it in the 50 feet.. thank fully this thing is much lighter than the xp i had..

13. on shore check showed i poped the top hose clamp where the exhaust was joined with a rubber 5" silicone peice and 2 five inch hose clamps... its all fixed now..

... im pretty good with balance and never rode a stand up to carry over any knowledge so.. whats the pointers so i can have them in my head while im trying to get used to it.. as i was trying to turn i was taking my standing position with which ever way i was turning to have my foot to the back of the ski on that side so i can press my weight into it to keep the ski from sliding.. my only bit of sitting on this was full throttle in a straight line..

 im all :bigear: for any advice

I have an hx and i love it. Heres a few things i've learned from riding one. I slow down and then throttle into my turn. don't be afraid to lean way into the turn. at low speeds sit as far forward on the seat as possible. when boarding in deep water i side board. once you get used to it the funniest thing is watching other people try to ride it. just last night i was giving a buddy pointers before he rode and he told me "i won't fall off", i just laughed. the best way to figure it out is just to ride it. have fun
