Hull full of oil

Good morning to all. Well another little problem with my 2001 gti. Haven't had skis very long and never owned one prior so learning quickly with the help of all here. There was a great deal of oil in the hull when i aquired the ski, checked for connections and hose condition all looked well. Rode ski last season only twice, parked for winter, all oil leaked out of tank into hull. Replace oil tank and filter checked hoses and clamps all appear to be good. Only two lines from tank to engine, am I missing something? Help! oily mess

I am new to this as well but when I got mine I noticed some oil in the hull. I cleaned it out and rode and the oil was not there the next day. Then I put some oil in the tank and sure enough the oil was back. I checked all my connections and come to find out that the 2 piece oil tank likes to leak if I fill it more then 1/2 way. I just keep it right under 1/2 and it seems to be fine. I see you said you put a new tank on it but I cant help but to think those 2 piece tanks are junk

Well, I have to agree that these tanks are junk and have a planned obsolesces with a very short service life. When I contacted my local dealer to inquire about purchasing one he said not a problem, we have 46 of them in stock. Whats that tell ya. Thanks for your input

A little dab of superglue should seal up any cracks in the tank. Just smear it a little to melt the plastic and close up the hole/crack.

Also, be 100% sure it is not coming from any of the injector lines or the bigger lines going under the engine.

You don't want to run it too long with any of the lines broken or detached.

scooper, nice little old Mavrick in pic, Proud owner of a 1966 GT 350 myself. Anyway on to oil, the tank is brand new and it appears the oil might be comming from the larger line, I believe the return back to tank. Is there some kind of gasket on the engine itself that might go bad to allow this to happen?

i got oil too... you can get on seadoo warehouse and gelt the new rubber seals their like 2.50???? might help a lil!

Typical issue is the hose clamp on the bottom of the large lines under the engine eventually wear through and create a little cut in the lines. Then gravity takes over and bye-bye oil.

so what is the easiest way to get down there, cut the line back and reinstall clamps?

Thanks to all for your input, finally removed the entire inducdtion system to gain access to this return hose on bottom of engine. Found the fitting had a crack in it and good bye oil. Being brand new to these skis I've discovered they sure don't make em user friendly to gain access to certain areas or work on. Misson accomplished, problem solved and on to the one. Thanks again billy

wait...you had to remove the whole system from the bott om of the ski. and enter the inside of the hull from the outside on the bottom?

It dependzs on the machine. But yes. If you dont have small hands lifting motor or moving everything out of way is the way to go. I pulled mine off the mounts and lifted it up 6" or so.

ok... so lemme get this straight. i need to climb under the ski take off induction grate and everything inside and i will gain access to the bottom of the motor from there i can do the fix? or am i missing something ?

NONONONO!!! This is all done from inside the engine bay. Definiitely do NOT remove the ride plate at the bottom.

If you are good at working upside down and blindly, you can probably do this without removing the engine or anything. Just feel around under the engine for the 2 tubes.

This is "under the engine" meaning you know how the engine is sitting up on engine mounts, about 3-4" off the floor of the boat? Under there in the space between the hull and engine is what I am talking about.

I just lifted the engine off the engine mounts on one side, put a couple 2X4s under it to jack it up another few inches, and fixed it and set it back down.

i cant get my hand all the way under there to save my life... probably an inch or so from being there...so i need to take this big header pipe off? remove mount bolts and prop engine up? is this the only way to go about this?I think what is kinda throwing me off a lil is mr.billy said he removed his "induction system" and i cannot figure out what he is refering to... sounds great, but makes me go INSTANTLY brain dead, as to what he removed to get down there! eeeeekkkkkkk:stupid:
