Hey friends - OK here's one. My '98 Speedster had a noticeable creaking below the helm area. I pulled all the various floats, skis, etc. out of the ski locker to explore. I found a silver dollar-sized chunk of very hard, light grey epoxy-like material laying loose in the bottom of the locker area.
Upon closer exam with a flashlight I noticed there are several "pylon-like" unions where the hull and deck are pinned together, and the grey material is a buffer or adhesive used in the middle of these joints. The stuff actually floats. Squeaking was caused by this material being busted out/cracking on two of the unions. I hit pretty hard a couple times the week before up in Big Bear when the afternoon chop came up.
So - what is this stuff, (adhesive, epoxy, etc) where can I get some, what is the fix, anyone done this before, what did I screw up now
, etc...
Thanks all.
