You will need a Service Manual specific for your year/model to properly understand
and maintain the performance of your ski. It has simple pics of proceedures, and
tools you will implement to check the electrical timing. Its basic stuff like finding
Mag cylinder TDC, marking PTO, and useing a timing light. Haveing two spark checkers also help in diagnoseing a performance problem, as 99% of the time its
fuel system related. On that model the MPEM was positoned poorly, subject to water
intrusion. Raves and the Water Regulator also need to operate correctly. Water in
the rear Ebox can cause electrical coil and other corrosion related problems. Dielectric Grease every E connection includeing fuses & its holder.
The Stator could just have metal particles interference. This happens occasionally
and can be just vaccumed out. Open the cover and look in there as the pick-up
bracket could be broke. That bracket was updated on '98-up models.
