What does pump cavitation sound like? When I'm a a dead stop and give both engines full throttle one engine will rapping up at 6500 RPM immediately and the other will go to about 4000 rpm and slowly climb to 6500 RPM. Is the engine thats rapping up at 6500 rpm cavitating?

95 speedster... yes. Your rev limiter is 6550 rpms, so that pump is cavitating.

I have a 98 sportster doing the same thing. I have only had it three weeks and the guy I bought it from said he recently had both wear rings replaced. Is there a way to correct this?

:agree:

Yes, the carbon seal on the drive shaft can cause cavitation that is bad enough to make the boat not move.

Start with the rings, and see what they look like. If they are still clean, then change the carbon seals.

FYI... just because the wear rings were change recently... doesn't mean they are still good. A few rocks, sticks, or a ski rope can destroy an aftermarket ring. (that's why I recommend OEM rings)
