You should be running an API TC rated low ash oil. Most people use either the Sea Doo XPS or Quicksilver PWC which is slightly cheaper. Either way, you need full synthetic. See if you can ask the previous owner. Mixing oils has been known to cause a chemical reaction that turns the oil into a jello like goo and cause problems.

It is a variable rate injection system. At full throttle it should be mixing 40:1, at an idle it is more like 300:1 or something like that. Best way to check it is mark the tank and run a tank of gas and see how far it goes down. A gallon of oil though should last you over 40 gallons of gas.

well that answered one question that i was wondering....seemed like i was not using any oil at all and was getting worried i was gonna burn a piston.

i just bought this thing 3 weeks ago ... i knew nothing bout it .. but looking into it more the motor is bored over and i have a after market head of some sort its blue and has a W on it ... also has a diff propellor .. and there is no filter in the flame arrestor box... as far as that im not really sure wut eles it has .. but i kid u not i was holding on for dear life ... after a hour of riding i was exhuast and im 24 years old and in shape.. and i was scared to stay on it WOT

btw my compression on both cyclinders is 162-164 range

Sweet post pics of engine and someone should tell you what kinda heads you have. If anything else looks aftermarket.

Since when does a 1997 XP need a full synthetic?

It does not. An API TC mineral oil will work just fine.

Also the stories about mixing of 2 stroke oils is a fallacy. All modern 2 stroke oils will mix. The photos of goo and jelly were caused by mixing non 2 stroke oil with 2 stroke oil - most commonly the new owner who pours 4 stroke engine oil into the tank.

And I agree, 70 on an XP isn't gonna happen - take a GPS with you to get an accurate speed measurement - typically 55mph unless you weigh < 100lbs.

Since it was built with a 787 with RAVE valves. Try researching or reading the manual next time before your dying to prove someone wrong.

Contrary to what people think, the 787 with RAVE valves actually was introduced in 1995, not 98. It was in the XP in limited numbers, called the XP800. Then saw it added to more ski's in 96. All of them are actually 781.6 CC, not 782 or 787 or 800.
