How to Fix a bent reverse Cable?

My reverse cable got bent pretty bad, I tried to bend it back straight with a couple different piers but can't get it straight enough to work.

Any advice as to what kind of tool I could use to bend it straight. I tried to do this while it was still in the boat, maybe I need to take it out or maybe it's just not worth trying to get it straight.

Any advice?

Is the latch mechanism binding? Mine was and it was an easy fix......just had to bend the flanges on the stainless tube back to flat (the tube connects the 2 reverse flaps together).

I just want to get it working for the weekend, I'm planning to order a new one but thought if I bent it back it would work good enough.

The bend is in the metal piece that attaches to the shifter mechanism before the flange tube, same place it broke off last time, from trying to put the reverse gate down when it was caught up in a rope. Same thing happened again, should have learned my lesson before, don't put any unnecessary pressure on the shifter I guess is the lesson.

Also, what is the size of the nuts on the cable where it connects to the shifting mechanism, I lost both in the hull trying to fix it?

Update: I called SBT, if I order it now I can have it overnight shipped and will have tomorrow, now the guessing game is, what time tomorrow.

Yup it's a weak cable. I bent mine back too (with the closed end of a wrench and a bunch of patience) but like the mod said it's not the same.

Installed a new cable over the weekend from SBT, works way better, much smoother, and I think I installed it properly this time which gives full forward thrust at idle, I think before the gate wasn't open all the way when in forward causing some back pressure, I'm glad I installed a new cable!
