I want to sell my boat, it has a fault free warranty from SBT, good until August 2010. It has an engine that has maybe 10 hours on it, have it broken in a bit.

787 engine. Interior is good, its not like you feel dirty in it, but it is faded. I am including a bunch of bumpers and anchors. (or should I sell them separate?). I have the seadoo trailer in good condition. 15 foot long boat. 1996 Challenger

I like the boat, but honestly at this point in life. It is too costly of a hobby for me. Floating down a river is much cheaper and I don't have to store it.....

Hi,

First… it would be easier to give you a ball park price if you posed up some pics.

Second… give it at least a day before posting on your own thread. People may only check once a day.

OK… without seeing the boat… it’s REAL street price is anywhere from $2000 to $4500. You have the right idea with expecting $3700. I know there are a few boats locally that the people are looking to get $6k out of them. Needless to say… they have been sitting for sale for a long time. Also the other mistake people make when selling a boat is that they expect to get every cent out of an item like a new engine. (you are not)

If you post up your boat for $3700… I’m sure you will sell it. I would throw in the accessories you have for it, as that will be a bonus to the new owner. Also, trying to sell a bunch of used boat stuff (bumpers, anchor, etc) normally will just be more of a pain since the only people who what older/used stuff like that , are the people who want you basically give it to them.

Now… the one problem you have right now is that the boating season is more than half way over. The best time to sell a boat is in the spring, or early summer, so people looking to buy will be less… and people looking to sell is going to come up.

When it comes down to it… sell the boat for whatever you feel comfortable selling it for. The cheaper you post it up for… the faster it will sell. BUT… without seeing pictures… what I said is only a guideline. People buy things that look good… so if it’s faded bad, there are stains or nicks in the gell, or rips in the seats… then it will be worth a lot less. The boat in my avatar was bought for $1500. It had a new engine, and it was mechanically sound… it was just ugly.

Good luck

Yeah I should post up some pictures. Sun fading on the seadoo words on the back seats, and a small rip in the very front padding. Besides that the boat is in great condition cosmetically and running wise.

The used book value on tihs boat is like $3400-3750 or something so I think I am going to say $3750 and try that and if I have to wiggle down to 3500 I will.
