How do we know if engine is not a stolen one

Hi i am a newbie.
Looking to buying a used 2008 RXT-X. According to seller this RXT was stolen and recovered without engine. It now has an engine, but he does not know where it came from.

My question how do we know if engine is not a stolen one ? Using EIN can we check and if so where?

thanks

This might seem odd but ive seen people "report" a car/truck/ski or what ever stolen, then it turns up striped so they write it off and send it to auction. they then buy it back put all the parts back on and sell it. Just seems odd to me that someone bought a 2008 X model "AND" was able to find a motor for it. also do you have anymore info on this ski? like hr's on it and price, pictures?

Im not sure but maybe you can try a history search of it like you would a car and maybe find who the perivious owner is

tnks for reply.
This ski has 20hrs, selling for 8500$
He says that he bought ski from a guy who put motor in it.
He does not know if motor is ligit or not.
that is why i need to verify EIN in data base, but where?

is this i private sale? i work for a dealer ship and buy from insurance auctions and i know that we HAVE to be able to prove where we got are parts from if asked to.

Yes this is a private sale.
Is there a way to check up on EIN, because planning to do regular servicing at dealer, but don't want any surprises

Sorry im not sure, why dont you tell the guy you want to take it to the dealer befor you by it, to have it looked over? and take it there and see what they say about it..... dont tell them the story just wait and see what they say about
