Hi,
This is my second top end rebuild, the first I thought went fine, using the shop manuel, but after destroying a piston (not setting the carb right), I've now read the excellent guides on plug reading, piston reading, carb setup, etc so hopefully I won't destroy another one.
However I can't for the life of me find a guide on piston rings and witch way up they should go, or even witch is the top on. I know these are really basic questions, I'm an electronic engineer, not mechanical
I have a 97 GTX with a 787, the 2 rings, one is L shape and one seems to be totally symmetric, but I've read about there being a T marking for the "top" and or there being s chamfer on one edge, I can't see either.
They are brand new pistons and rings (SBT top end replacement), I've measured the ring gap and they are all good, I just want to make sure I get the rings right.
A little guidance would be great,
Thanks guys
