how do i diagnose the wear ring

ok well i am haveing a problam with power and people keep telling me its the wear ring how can i check it
 
1st a visual to see if its totally intact. 2nd use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the impellor and the ring. .008 is good, .040 is bad.
So the closer tolerance means more thrust (water being moved), larger means the prop spins in an air pocket that gets created by the blade edges instead of moveing the inlet water out thru the nozzel. This is Cavitation.
 
Here is some more detailed information on your wear ring.

Wear Ring clearance for your seadoo 1.0 mm or (.040in) Measure the clearance at the center of the impeller blades, with a 12” long gauge. Measure the clearance from the venturi side of the jet pump.
