How do I check the injectors? Please help.

How can I visually check the injector function?

The stern plug in my 2006 GTI is much cooler when pulled than the other two, and it runs rough mostly under 6000 rpm. The #1 (stern) plug/coil boot is cracked and I suspect it is shorting out, but I would like to verify that it is not the injector.

I understand that they are supposed to spray a fine mist. How do I go about checking this?

OK, it's a bit more complicated than I thought. I figured all you had to do is unplug the fuel rail, crank the ski, and watch the mist. I didn't know how to bleed off the internal pressure between the pump and the injectors though.
