How do I check if Water Flow Control Valve is working properly?

Long story short, I had the water flow control valves out of both my skis today and accidentally mixed up which spring went with which valve:banghead:, one of the valves has 3 washers in it to adjust the spring tension. I know you aren't supposed to adjust these as they are factory set, but the red caps cleary indicate that the previous owner adjusted these. How do I confirm they are working properly, especially now that I may have switched the springs? Is the needle valve always supposed to be turned all the way in or is that part of the factory setting also?

W.R. spring will have more resistance when compressed. Have the 2-on motor, turned all the way down, and the muffler, at flush w/cap.

Timmy,
By "two on the motor" do you mean the RAVE's? if so why do you suggest those be all the way down? I thought all the way in was for more low end power and flush with the cap was for more high end performance.

Be careful that you adjust it right!!! Too little water in the waterbox and that will heat up that formed exhaust hose that goes out the back, not to mention melting the end where the hose bolts to the exhaust outlet, sinking your boat right away...when it comes off!! I would put the red cap flush with the cap. Turned in all the way puts less water in the waterbox all the way out will allow more water.

I know from experience that if the water isn't right your in trouble so be careful when in deep water.. This is very important if you go out wave jumping, the force of the water when you land will make the hose come off if it has been subjected to extreme exhaust temps.

I have played around with the rave caps and mine are all the way up. I have tried all the way down and everywhere else with lil results.

Do you have the slotted rave valves on the 96 gsx or are they stock?

my RAVES are stock.
For Water Valve, manual says run all the way in, then back out 3 turns which brings the red cap just above flush
