What are the opinions on current manufactured Hot Rod cranks.

I can buy the 951 crank for 454 or WSM for 552. but last I herd hotrod quality was/has going down hill.
So far had good luck with WSM cranks passing 50 hrs at least. Have never tried hotrods and also a little weary in putting it in a 951 to begin with.

I don’t have any firsthand experience with them, but I’m sure @mikidymac will step in before long. I believe he’s still buying factory cranks, and in the same price range. That may just be for the 787’s, but we will see what he says...

No, the oem cranks are in the same price range and are typically cheaper then hot rods. There was a member here who had issues with I believe 2 hot rods cranks for a 787. The bearings were very noisy after just breaking in, iirc. If I remember I'll try and find the post tonight.

I am also looking at 951 carb crank and counter options. Both WSM and Hot Rods are making all new cranks. No one seems to have any recent horror stories about Hot Rods. Guys with shops tend to have a relationship with WSM or SBT. WSM seems to be keeping everyone happy lately. One guy said the rebuilt cranks he sends them are coming back with Japanese bearings.

The "all new" is intriguing but I feel like the OEM is put together while held to a high standard. I don't like having to ship a core and having 200 charge lingering around until they credit back. It might be worth it though.

When I was buying cranks I would get the $200 back as soon as the dealer I bought it from received the crank. I would also talk to the dealer before have to make sure that agree to that. PPG in Florida is the only one who held my refund for a few months. They gave me the excuse that Seadoo needed to inspect the crank, later confirmed with another dealer that that was bullshit. Needless to say I only dealt with them on the one crank. Technically, the crank doesn't even need rods since its getting new ones. They just need the web's and counterbalance gear.

I know the Hot Rods cranks have gotten way more expensive and they are now using lower quality parts from China.
I have no first hand experience with them but I know the freestyle guys running the Superjets suggest staying away from them due to failures.

Thanks guys, where can I get oem cranks in the same price range?
Keep in mind canada here, so the above prices were canadian which is great compared to any oem I've found at 700$+
