i just purchased a 1996 xp and was getting it ready to take out to the lake this weekend and i noticed that there was a hole in the top of the air intake cover in the middle. is there a plug or something that is suposed to go in it? or is it ok to leave it open?

thanks

Not sure about your model, but on my 3d there is a rubber plug that is on top of the air box. Not sure if it has to be in, as the service manual says to spray bomb lube in there with the engine running when you are winterizing it. I imagine that you are ok with out it, barring you don't get any water in it. Is it pretty small? I just want to make sure we are talking about the same hole.

Is this the 5858 or 5859 engine? This is the part # and name that comes up. 293830005 Rubber Plug. And its $3.99..might as well buy it:)
