Hi,
The names Jeff. I live in sunny Florida. My wife and I just bought a pair of seadoos, one is a gtx the other a gti. They both appear to be in fair condition, but both have a few minor problems. The GTX gauges (especially the fuel gauge) is wrinkled inside and doesn't display anything, and the fuel level light seems to stay on. Now, I've seen ads for a repair kit out of the Orlando area, does this work or is it a scam?. As far as cracks in the hood, is it worth repairing or replacing them or does damage regularly occur to them? Next, Ive heard about an engine spray coating sold, for use after rinsing saltwater from the engine. Waste of money or necessary? Is the a need to flush anything through the machine to coat the inside where the water flows through? Finally what is the distance a sled can go on a full tank, ballpark? Thanks any advice would be helpful.

Hi and welcome to the SeaDoo forum.

First of all a SeaDoo is made by BRP, a Waverunner is made by Yamaha, so you have SeaDoo's. The problem with the multi-gauge on the GTX is quite common, you can either buy a repair kit or just buy a used gauge (about $50.00). The problem with the fuel gauge is probably just the float, get a newer molded style. The hood repair is up to you, you might want to post a picture. As far a gas usage a ski, or a pwc (a sled is a snowmobile), especially 2-strokes are gas hogs, at WOT probably 1-1/2 to 2 hours, ride more conservative and you'll get better mileage.

I know that I've glossed over your questions, kinda on purpose. I would suggest you post your questions on the 2-stroke PWC section for more detailed answers, and for the best results one at a time.

Welcome,

Lou
