Hi all. I recently bought a new 2017 GTI 155 not even broken in yet. Made a huge mistake let my 16 year old take a buddy for a ride. The problem is the cover. In their exuberance to get on the lake they must have somehow pulled and perhaps broke the elastic ribbing around the cover the cover. Am I out of luck or does anyone have is aware of how to tighten the ribbing around the cover. Hate to have to drop 200$ on a cover with a ski that has five hours on it. Any help -- greatly appreciated.

If it is the elastic cord within the hem, you can open the small vertical stitch at either the bow or stern and try to work the end back to the opening. It is time consuming and tedious but may work. The other option is to pull the cord out, tie it to a nut or drill a small hole in the end of a dowel and make a large sewing needle-like rig. Push the cord around the hem with one hand, bunching up the fabric. Hold the nut or dowel with the other hand and pull the fabric back the direction you started. Continue this until you reach the opening you started at. Tie the two ends of the cord back together. My brother in law added a plastic spring slide to snug the cover on his.

No problem. Hope it works for you. I have used a piece of metal coat hanger in place of the dowel with success before. Your other option is to bring it to a tailor or upholstery shop. They may be able to fix it for a reasonable price.
