Gray Fuel Lines

Have you replaced the gray fuel lines?

Check your wear ring, clearance no more than .040".

i have not replaced the fuel lines . i have only had these about a month .also didn't find a filter in the carbs .where are they at ? thanks

There is a fuel filter mounted under the dash area. Mine was doing about the samething. I was told it was the ignition coil. Try replacing it.

How did you clean the carbs without cleaning that filter? The internal carb filters are behind the fuel pump. Have to take carb(s) off to open it up. Its about 1/2" in diameter. Look at the service manual blow up of the carb. I remove it with a pair of long nose pliers and clean with carb cleaner.
Do you have the old grey fuel lines. If so they need to be replaced, clean out tank, external fuel filter under dash, and fuel RES/ON selector. Do a search for fuel lines and you will find lots of info.

Thanks for the replies ! I have things to try now .i will start by taking carbs off again and find that filter. The one under the dash does not have a paper element in it it's gone .i did put inline filter down by the carb .dont guess that will hurt...

Yeah, but it would be good to get a new filter where its supposed to be. You can order it from this site or pick up at a dealer I suppose.

Well i went back into the carbs and cleaned filters they was'nt that dirty .dont think that was the problem have'nt tried it yet .how do i get the fuel selector out to clean it ? I think the ring with the res >on>off screws off but not sure . Thanks again !

removethe rubber insert, to expose the panhead screw. Undo it, then turn the black hex nut. The selector switch will fall inside ski.

Seadooya got it but I'd just add, after getting panhead screw out, I think there is a small lock screw holdig the knob on.
In my case the panhead screw was frozen, the knob was broken, etc. After the knob fell off, I used a visegrip to try to get the screw loose and it twisted off. S..t. happens.
Now in process of replacing the whole thing.

Fuel Selector Valve

Since you have to replace the selector valve, go ahead and get the newer style, the knob is much stronger and the valve works easier. You will need to reverse the main and reserve, set the valve and blow through the center to determine. And the off will be up instead of down.

Thanks for all the replies ! You guys are a big help , i think i have everything cleaned just got to go try it and my nearest lake is about 45 miles away . Thanks again i'll keep you posted !

If the carb filters weren't that dirty, then maybe its another problem. But it is a good exercise/preventive measure to clean the fuel system out. Maybe check out ignition. Good luck and let us know.
