HELP Water in hull

Ok so we bought two 99 GTX RFI skis. Have had a problem with one of them that we've managed to fix. Got it on the water today and it ran great. After sitting in my slip for a few hours we noticed it was very low in the water. Well after finding the hull filled with water we pulled it to an air dock, drained, put it back in and found the old owner tried to fix the reverse mechanism but did so wrong and didn't seal the hole right. Therefore might as well had a hole punched in the back.

At it's worst point the entire back end was filled with water, in the engine compartment it was at the level of the crankcase but not over the plugs. We dried it out really good and thinking more of electronics than anything else it started up and ran to the trailer without any problems. As I sit here thinking about it what is my danger of water getting in the crank case. It's an RFI so not a typical carb unit and water didn't get in the front to even get any part of the nerve center wet. Where is the air intake and what level would it have to have been for us to have a rebuilding problem?

Thanks so much.

If it's coming in the VTS... then the boot on the push rod is ripped. It's a normally problem. Replace the boot, and the o-ring on the hull, and it should be OK.

If you have water above the crank... you have to worry about water intrusion into the engine. If your crank seals are bad... it could come in. Also, your air intake is under the exhaust on the that engine... so it's low on the engine. Most of the electronics are waterproof, but I would pull the spark plugs out, and make sure there isn't any water in that engine.
