Hi all,

don't know if anyone can help but here goes:
new to boating had it a few months, new rebuilt engine, first time in water today and after a faulty ignition switch it started okay but soon developed what seemed to be an electrical fault, power to the engine would cut an alarm sound for a second then power restored, made my way around the lake like this intermittantly until engine cut completely with a repeated alarm sound and refused to start again.

Checked the engine found water spray everywhere, then found one of the water pipes that goes behind the top pully had rubbed through causing a leak.

What are the alarms for and could the water problem cause the boat to switch off and on again??

Also on the engine battery side down near the bottom a water nozzle with no pipe attached is letting in what seems to be cool water, where is this water supposed to go??

With that cooling hose rubbed through it was either an overheat alarm, or a low water pressure alarm. That water spraying everywhere could definitely have caused your running problem as well. Electronics don't always take kindly to water.

Hopefully that's what was causing the engine to cut out and not an overheat problem, or you may have suffered some engine damage. dry everything up, including disconnecting all the electrical connectors and making sure they are dry inside, fix the hose and take the boat back out and see how it runs.

Aaron:cheers:
