Hello guys!
First I would like to introduce myself to you. I am from the Netherlands (so please be easy on some spelling mistakes, i'm trying my best!) and own a rx di build in 2001 with 250 hours on it. I own the watercraft for more then a year now. Bought it with low compression and rebuild the top end of the engine. The cilinders were bored to the next oversize piston size, installed new pistons, rings, bearings, gaskets etc. A few weeks ago i fired it up for the first time. Idling was ok, so it was time for the first test run in water. Low rpm the engine was running fine but more open throttle the engine runs bad and eventually stalls. Back in my garage I experienced the same issues.
My diagnose so far:
Compression is good
No errors in the MPEM
Spark plugs are black which would indicates a rich mixture or to much oil injected into the engine
The exhaust smokes. I dont have a reference but compared to other 2 strokes I think its to much
Rave valves shears are covered in oil
Spark at the plugs are present
Fuel is blowing out of the spark plug holes when cranking
My first thought was to much oil injected into the engine so I checked the oil pump adjustment. The markes are perfectly alligned so the adjustment is ok. Would it be a good idea to perform a flow test and compare the results to the values as in the workshop manual? I also tested the oil check valves (by blowing into the hose) and I cant blow through them so I suppose no oil is dripping into and filling up the crankcase.
My question is what to do next? I am at the point I have to invest some money to investigate this issue further. Should I invest in equipment to test the fuel and air pressure or is the problem more likely in the ignition part, so invest in new ignition coils.
Any help or thoughts are appriciated!
