hello everybody. we just bought this boat and took it out for the first time. it will idle and run up to 2500 rpm and then just falls on its face. we have checked and changed the plugs, checked and cleaned the fuel filters. both engines run the same so what else could it be. the only common factor is fuel or oil. if anybody has an idea please let me know.
thanks

I had a simalar problem, and had to pull the internal filters inside the carbs and clean them out. There's also a filter (screen) inside the baffle of the fuel tank that could be gummed up and choking off ur fuel supply.

I wouldnt in case u are pulling a bunch of trash in...u dont wanna get all that junk in ur carbs. The filters are very small and are easily cleaned, just by spraying them off with carb cleaner or starter fluid (ethyr).

Neutral safety switch....?

You say up to 2500 rpm, then fall flat on your face. What do you mean? Do you mean it will not go past 2500, just hovering there, as if there was something limiting the rpm? If so, sounds like your neutral safety switch could be sticking. IF you mean that you get to 2500 and then, it dies (falls flat on it's face)....then, it could be the carbs. But, like you said, if it happens to both engines at the same time, it has to be something both engines have in common.........

OKAY to start with thanks for everybodys help. now to the answer. we thought it was the neutral saftey switch, we took it out and started the port engine ran great super just perfect, did not bother to try the starbord engine. got to the lake put in the water eased over to our slip got the big boat and sat around for a while. took the sea doo out got past the no wake and boom same problem. now for the fix. the starbord engine exhaust clamp had come loose and was filling the compartment with exhaust gas, they don't run to good on bad air.
thanks again for everybodys help.
