So I have a 2004 GTI with the 720 engine and a 40i Mikuni carb that has an accelerator pump. Question is where the heck are my Hi/Lo screws? I can't seem to figure this out at all. Also does anyone know how to know if you have a gti, GTI le, or GTI LE RFI? What's the difference?IMG_0218.JPGIMG_0217.JPGIMG_0216.JPGIMG_0215.JPGIMG_0214.JPGIMG_0218.JPGIMG_0217.JPGIMG_0216.JPGIMG_0215.JPGIMG_0214.JPG

Oh they are right ther,,,,,,, what the hell lol

Looks like in 2004 they removed them for emissions BS Why did you want to adjust them ?

Difference between the GTI's are the engine size and if its fuel injected.

Base is the GTI 717, simple
GTI LE I thing is the 787 engine which is a little more powerfull
RFI is the 787 engine with fuel injection.

My 2003 was the same way, they are under the aluminum flush caps. As Mekanix said it is so you can't adjust them because of emissions. It also means that you can't clean them properly either. I drilled them out but found that the adjustment screws under them are different than any other mikuni carb and can not be sealed so they leak air. I even tried silicone over them and nothing would make them run correctly.

After 2 seasons of fighting with it I just bought a brand new carb from OSD seadoo and the shi has never run better. Also now I can just rebuild it with the standard kits.

Also...
GTI is the base model with the carb 717 and only a fuel gauge.
GTI LE is still carb 717 but with full gauges and painted hood and mats.
GTI RFI is the full deluxe model with all bells and whistles and the injected 787.
