New to me sea-doo.. Worked fine on the sea trial. 1st day of ownership, hit the start button and hear "click" but engine doesn't turn over.. Checked battery voltage.. 12.0 VDC resting.. Ordered new AGM 28 AH battery and replaced old flooded cell battery. Same issue.. Sometimes it fires off first try, other times I have to hit the starter button 4 or 5 times before eninge will crank. The "click" noise I hear I'm assuming is the starter solenoid.. So is my starter on the way out?.. I also changed the oil and filter to castrol 10-40 mineral oil since the previous owner gave me three quarts of SYNTHETIC doo oil with the machine. I called and asked him if that was the oil in there now and he'd never heard of the ceramic clutch issue or that you shouldn't use synthetic in the SC engines. Do you think the clutch has been ruined by previous use of synthetic?.. It runs well and goes 62mph WOT.. Should I have the metal washers installed NOW? or can I make it through the summer.. It has 52 hours on it.. thanks.

Thanks Larry: is the starter solenoid easy to get to and easy to repace? or did you have a dealer do it.. I don't have a shop manual for it yet.

change

easy to change follow red battery cable to it only to small bolts holding it on, switch wires just un plug, battery and starter wires unbolt got replacement part at local seadoo shop i think was 60 dollars no problem since changed out

hello hello.... i'm click clickin too, is the starter synolid the same as whats listed as the starter relay???

coo hooked that isht up for $41.00 shipped!!!!!!!!! hope it cures me from mashin that start/stop switch 4-5 times each time i wanna ride it!!

This is funny; the other seadoo we bought, Also an 06" but normally aspirated has started first time every time. I ordered a new relay for mine from this site, waiting for it in the mail. In the meantime, today? the normally aspirated one did the click click routine but will NOT start, even after 200 tries, corrosionX spray and whacking it w/ a wrench.. Mine stated first try all day, the wifes' is dead.. A yamaha dealer told me he replaces 20 relays a year on customers rides.. Apparantly a common failure.. Anything to do to keep these things from going south besides di-electric grease at the terminals?.

Not really... Keep it dry, i bet once you get new ones you'll get a few years outta it, no biggy, i just picked up a new one too paid 40$ to my door shipping and all!!!!!

It's no biggie except for the fact that the wife couldn't ride today and I have to wait 5-10 days for the new relay to arrive.. Unbelievably, there is no seadoo dealer anywhere near our lake which is only the biggest lake in PA. (Lake Raystown)..

well i joined the club too... it sucks i know... i'm waitin on mine in the mail too, should be here no later than wednesday!!! now it's the wait game....i'm with ya!

I might road trip to the closest dealer tomorrow and keep the ones I ordered as spares.. Oh, a guy told me you can take them off and bake them in an oven, it gets the moisture out and it works again.. He said they cut one open and it had water in it. Surely there must be a better design?. Now I have to worry about the SC on mine.. 55 hours now.. I wished I'd never found this site. Now I know my SC could blow up the engine at any moment.. LOL.. Naw, great site and source of information!!

good idea... you'll prolly be holdin on to them for a while... while they are a common problem, it doesnt mean they go out often, saying it happens to alot of different owners rides... bt more power to ya... if they do go out you'll have it covered... about the SC... atleast you found out before it is too late, if i were yu i would fit the metal washers ASAP... you dont wanna replace the WHOLE motor... think it's bad waitin 5-20 days for a relay. try waitin on a mech to drop a new motor... and then the bill, even if you do it your self, the time it takes... and the foul headaches that will come with it...lol, patience is key i have found out...

Yeah, I SHOULD have the washers replaced, but I'll prolly try and eek out the summer with it.. I know the SC needs a rebuild @ 100 hours anyway and I doubt I'll put more than 20 hours on it the rest of the summer, that'll be 75 hours or so total time. We got a great deal on these things and if we really like them, then I'll prollly end up w/ at least a 215 HP model anyway. Good advice though, I may be VERY sorry if I don't take it.
