I have a 2005 RXT. Decided to try and save some money. Changing my own battery seems more daunting than I thought it would be. I've called a repair shop but they talked to me like I was stupid, perhaps they're not used to women trying to make repairs....I have no problem saying I need help. Do I have to remove the bracket holding down the battery completely? Having a hard time even getting my hands in there!

Welcome to the forum. You should be able to get the assistance you need here. Lots of knowledgable, friendly folks here. I am not familiar with your model but have some suggestions:

1) do you have a manual? If not, download one and read up on your model.
2) post your question in the 4-Tek PWC section of the forum. You will get more looks from people who are familiar with the 2005 RXT.

Good luck with you Seadoo. The battery should be a fairly easy task.

Welcome to the forum, you have come to the right place for help, I have only been here a very short time but have done a lot of reading looking for answers for myself as well as reading threads from others looking for help and the responses are always good and faster than any boat forum that I am on. Great people here.

I will move this over to the 4-tec forum but leave it here in the meet and greet for 30 days as well.

I have an 09 RXT-X.

If your is like mine, there is a plastic frame that surrounds the battery. In my case, there are some plugs an relay on another piece of plastic that snap into the frame.

If so, snap the plastic part off that supports the plugs/relays. Then there are two bolts at the bottom if the battery on the sides. Unthread them and then the battery should lift out.

Not hard once you have done it. Sucks the first time. LOL

Hopefully when you disconnected the battery cables you removed the bolt's rectangular "keepers"...and kept them in a safe place.

A 3/8 ratchet w/a 12" extension and if memory serves...10mm socket does the trick on the nuts on both sides of the battery. Once the bracket is carefully removed...(you don't wanna lose any nuts or washers)....the battery lifts easily out with strap and rubber base.

Thanks for your help! Once I had the right size tools it was much easier. I'll look you up if I'm ever brave enough to work on it again by myself lol
