Total newbie to the PWC scene but very excited to begin.

Have been a horsepower/speed junkie all my life (Lightnings, Cobras, SRT8 Jeeps 700+ HP)

So I am looking at buying a 2006 Seadoo RXP with 66 hours on it.

I already looked into ordering the supercharger rebuild kit and doing it myself.

Any other issues/problems I should look for when going to look at it?

Thanks all

- Sean

Sean welcome to the forum! First and foremost I recommend going with an OEM rebuild kit.. don't get one the aftermarket kits for this. We sell the OEM kit here:
[h=2]Sea Doo Supercharger Rebuild Kit for 215/255/260 Engine - 420881102[/h]
What I would recommend though is using our Supercharger rebuild service. For $425 we will rebuild the supercharger for you. That price includes return shipping as well. Rebuilding a supercharger requires precise measurements and specialized equipment.

Here is a video about our service:

Go figure I watched that video this morning. Now from what I read the new seadoo chargers require a rebuild every 200 hours, have they developed better parts for the older skis or is it still every 100 hours/2 years ?

The kit is quite a bit better than it used to be but the 200 hour kit is still recommended to be rebuilt every 100 hours odd as it may sound.

The 04 to mid-06 engines have sodium filled exhaust valves. These valves are not as strong as the solid core. If they fail, the repair is VERY expensive. If they have not been swapped for solid core, you should figure the replacement cost into the figure you are willing to spend on the ski.

Take the valve cover off and check the number stamped on the valve stem, look that up to discover if you have the type of valves that snap off at the valve head. Maybe someone has already rebuilt the head but if not and you have the weak valves than replace them before it drops a valve.

Sean, there are a few things to look at. You want to make sure it runs on the hose. No milky oily. Supercharger wont spin by hand easily or have shaft movement. I'm a few towns over from you so I know its cold..... but its necessary. How much are they asking?

I bought an 05rxp and will always tell people to see and feel it run in the water first. If it gets to the 8100rpm, your in pretty good shape. But there will be somethigs you need to look at. Supercharger rebuild, valves, etc.

Mine had the bad valves, popped intercooler, supercharger washer failure, and was down on compression. I ended up ripping the motor out for a full rebuild.
