Heavy Duty Rectifier - where to buy?

I'm in the market for a 'heavy duty' rectifier or at least a better than OEM aftermarket edition. It seems most folks have gotten them from OSD but their site says they bought out their supplier and now they don't have anymore and aren't sure when they are getting them back in. Does anyone know where else I could get one that would fill that bill? Its a 2000 787 GSXRFI; my part # is 278001554
 
Ask OSD if the 4Tech one will work, I think it does but the connection plugs are different. He will probably have the correct plugs there that he can sell or give you.
 
I was able to use a stock 787 regulator on my 951. Worked great. Cut the 3 yellow wires right near the mpem and splice into the yellow wires on reg, then red wire all the way to the pos battery terminal with 15A fuse. Neg connector to the ear of the regulator to engine ground.

The best way to save the regulator is to start off with a fully charged battery and keep a good battery. (Not the cheap batteries from walmart) Sealed AGM is the way to go.
 
You could email osd right now and I bet they get back to you before you go to bed. I went to order something and they showed a zero quantity, I asked when it would be in stock. They had it and added it right then so I could buy it. That was at like 11:30pm. Their customer service is above and beyond.

$125.99 shipped to Canada this is for the heavy duty one. I have had two GTX RFI one a 99 and the other a 2000 and have had these rectifiers in both with a Sealed AGM battery and have had no problems at all.

Ok, done deal! Ordered $103 delivered. I had emailed OSD and they did respond by confirming that they do not have anymore of the rectifier I was looking for and that they had no idea when they would be getting more and just said that I should keep an eye on their website for when they might come back in, if ever. So with that, I ordered from the site recommended above. I guess we'll wait and see.

How did you hook in the ground? I just ordered one for a GTX 787 that I'm gonna wire in.
 
Subscribed. I need a good replacement. Why are you guys going HD? My original one lasted nearly 20 years, if I get that service out of a replacement I will be happy!

Well, this is my very first ski, I've never owned one before and have no experience. I only went that route based on what I've read in these forums (as well as other pwc forums) and how RFI's (I have a GSX RFI) apparently use regulators like water. This was also confirmed to me by 2 local shops that told me to replace with better than oem. To be honest, even with my recent purchase I'm not 100% convinced it will make a difference but many here have said it does; it is certainly beefier than what I took out. Perhaps it doesn't matter for all models but I know the RFI's were called out. Since you had success though, maybe stick with what works, although hard to know if even stock parts today are made as well and who knows where they are really coming from.
 
On both my RFI's they were over charging at 16 volts that's why I replaced the rectifiers. The problem with them over charging is that the Seadoo ran fine and I wouldn't of know without doing a check with a meter also charging at 16 volts will take out the MPEM so I'm told.. Now I have installed a water proof volt meter ($6.00 from Ebay) right between the two gauges so I can see the volts at anytime.

Great idea - So is it wired in between the rectifier and the battery? Not sure where you take that reading from. Do you have a pic?

I wired it in from a wire that has 12 volts at the back of the gauges.20140916_132230.jpg
