head unit question

I want to replace the factory clarion tape deck player for a deck i have laying around my house.

I went to replace it but the plastic connectors are not the same. Do I have cut the factory plastic end connection and solider the new connections together or is a kit you can buy that just make the connection easier.
I've installed car audio stuff before and know how that works.
The new deck is a panasonic if that helps...

You should be able to go to Best Buy or another store that sells car audio decks to buy an adapter.

Heck Walmart, RadioShack, Kmart all sell adaptor plugs...
