have a couple of things that are concerning me about my 1993 seadoo xp

Hi there everyone i have a couple of things that are concerning me about my 1993 seadoo xp and maybe somebody can let me know whats causing these things. ok so the first thing is when you give it full throttle and than let off back down to idle sometimes it will idle down to 1500 rpm fine but sometimes it will go down to 1000 rpm and just shake unless you give it gas. i know my carbs need rebuilds but is that whats causing this?

also my next questions is when your going full throttle and you slowly let off the gas at around 4000rpm you will hear a winy/grinding noise and im just wondering if thats jet pump bearings or drive shaft bearing gone? if somebody could answer these questions that would be great:cheers:

It sounds like you have correctly diagnosed both problems. If the ski is running O.K. other than the idle I would worry about it too much, just set the idle a little higher.

However I would check out the pump problem right away. Have you changed the pump oil recently? If so did the oil look grey?

thanks for the quick reply Lou! :thumbsup:. i am actually planning on changing the pump oil this weekend i bought it about 3 months ago and have ridden it about 5 times but the guy i bought it off of says he changed it about a year ago so its time to change it

one more quick question what should i use for the jet pump 75w 90?

I use Mobile 1, LS, full synthetic 75w90, GL-5, about $10.00 quart. I doesn't take much, I bought the oil 3yrs. ago, have 2 ski's and still have enough for a couple more changes.

BTW, any brand GL-5 75w90 oil will work.

ok thank you so much Lou. i will do the oil change this weekend. is there anyway to see if the jet pump bearings are shot when you change the oil or do i have to take it apart to see?

Hey seadoo/skidoo if you windup needin any part for that ski I have about 60 of that body style xp's spx's sp's, spi's 90 models to 99's Pluse about 100 other types and brand, in otherwords plenty of good used parts.
