Hi, once again I'm over 100 miles from my ski and need some quick info.

Does anyone know what diameter the handle bar tube is? I want to change my grips, and it seems that the standard is 7/8".. Is this the size of the bars on the 97 GTX?

I was also considering changing the bars completely to something... more racing? Does any company make bars specifically for ski's, or can I just slap some dirt bike, or mountain bike bars?

Also I would like to change the thumb throttle to the index and middle fingers up front. Is there some option or should I go with a dirt bike/ mountain bike set up again? I just don't feel safe jumping waves with my palm open..

Sum...remove the patting from stock bars, to expose the clamps..old SP, i had, installed finger throttle, umi on/off button housing, and believe they were Renthall bars, using stock clamps

Tim, thanks for the response. The problem is that I can't look at the bars right now. I keep the ski at my lake house which is over 100 miles from me, so I can't just check the sizing. Next time I will be there is the 4th of July, and was hoping to bring some parts with me to do work on it.

Renthal bars would be perfect for me, especially since I ride dirt bikes so it would be a familiar feel. I also was thinking about getting a twist throttle, but that might be too much.. especially since the water might make it stick after a while.

Can anyone confirm that it takes 7/8" grips? I believe 96-02 they're all the same. If anyone changed their grips on a 96-02 GTX, please chime in.
