Hello all,
I'm not a jet ski owner but renting a lake house this week and I'm friends with the owner. So total newbie. I noticed the info center / gauges didn't light up or function, however the jet ski still ran.
Got a new $730 info center from a local dealer. It did in fact light up and gauges worked. It said normal key so I think it registered. However when cranking the engine, it turns over successfully and runs for about 2 sec then quits. Tried a bunch of times. Sometimes we see an error message saying "right keypad error" and check engine light comes on.
If I pull the fuse to the info center then the jet ski can at least run again (back to original problem).
So I called the small town dealer again and they suggested maybe it's a programming issue and to take it in. However as renters we don't have a way to tow it. I'd really like to get it fixed for the owner as he's an elderly man. Questions.
1. Do you agree that it's a programming issue?
2. Is there a way to self program without dealer specialty equipment?

2010 GTX 155

Yes, it's a programming issue. No, you can't self program.

Step 1: New gauges have to be programmed so that it knows what ski it is going in.
Step 2: The gauge has to be programmed(or married) to the ECU of your ski so they can communicate to each other properly.

This will take BUDS software. Any SeaDoo dealer that sold you this should be able to do this.

Did it do the exact same issue with the original cluster or did it run as it should and the cluster simply didn't function?

Sounds good. Dealer is coming out next week for $75 to program it. Seems like they should have mentioned this when I bought the part from them. The fix will be sort of anticlimactic for me since I'll be long gone.

I program for free if they buy the gauge or ECU from me. Yes, they should have mentioned that small detail. lol

The literature for CanDoo says their system supports the pairing function. It's very easy to do.
