I have a 1999 GTX RFI with the 787 engine (I think) that has the cylinders filled with oil after sitting for the winter. And last summer there was oil leaking into the bilge. I had thought that the bilge leak was just the oil tank or a hose leaking, so I didn't look into it yet. But this year it started fine the first time out, then the second time would not crank at all, now I know due to the cylinders being filled with oil.
I've read the forum about RFI's cannot be converted to premix. Is this really true?
Also, I've read a post about this problem but it only referred to a seal fix for this but I couldn't find the details.
Does anyone know of a good post on this topic or a link on what I could do?
Thanks, and sorry if this topic was covered, I looked and didn't find any details on this.

You can't premix a RFI engine but if it is flooding with oil that would not fix your issue as the rotary valve drive has to be supplied with oil premix or not. Your only sources are a leaking rotary shaft seal or more likely inner crank seals. If it is filling up that fast with oil you will have to split the cases and replace the crankshaft and the rotary seals while it is apart.

Thanks for the info. This sounds like a lot of work. Any idea how long it would take and how much it would cost in parts to do this repair?
