I have a 2004 GTX 4 Tec 155hp non supercharged and a 2003 GTX 4 Tec non supercharged. The 2004 was purchased from a dealership with 66hrs and they put a new wear ring and impeller on it. It will run 52 according to a garmin gps. The 2003 was purchased from an individual with 106hrs on it and recently had the 100hr service completed and the guy had proof. The 2003 will only run 48 mph and this is with a new wear ring that I installed today. I also replaced the spark plugs today. I can fit a business card between the wear ring and the impeller. I have researched and see where people are saying these boats go over 60mph. Should my boats be going faster?

I installed a wear ring and a solas impeller on my 2004 GTI today and it was a perfect fit. Nothing could fit in between the impeller and the wear ring.

Non supercharged.... 50'ish sounds right to me.

Sure, they are 155 hp... but the 4-stroke skis are heavy.

If you want to find every last once of speed... replace your carbon ring seal, re-seal the pump shoe, file clean any imperfections on the impeller and stator.

If you do that... with an aftermarket impeller... and if the engine is getting to peak RPM's... you will see upper 50's.

Thankyou very much for the reply. I googled several sites and I kept seeing numbers in the 60's and thought something was wrong. Those have to be supercharged skis obtaining those numbers.

The dealer said you should be able to place a business card in between the impeller and wear ring. Is this true? I can on the 2003 GTX but cannot on the 2004 GTI with the new impeller and wear ring.
