I apologize in advance as my cousin has been attempting to get the PWC to run for me, but here are the details:

PWC has been sitting unused for at least 1.5-2 years. Assume the battery is dead. PWC was hooked up to a running car for cranking power. Key gets hooked up, PWC beeps twice like normal and the display comes on normally. Ignition button is pushed and you head a loud thud or clunk. It will keep doing this. A couple of times the motor cranked over a few times, but generally just the single thud occurs.

Could the motor be seized up a little? What can I have my cousin try to get this running. It has plenty of fuel and oil and was also serviced just prior to that 1.5-2 year no-use stint.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Well, you may have just fried your MPEM. You can't hook up a seadoo to a RUNNING car.

take the plugs out, and turn over by hand. if free, put some full synthetic inj oil in the cyls and crank over with the plug boots on the grounding lugs.

Thanks for the quick reply. Assuming the MPEM is the engine management sytem/ECM? I think it it still acting normally, but can double check. Why can't you connect it to a running car? Also, I assume the grounding lugs are nearby and easily visible?

the 2 grounding lugs are on the bottom of the black elec box on that model, I think? they are easy to find.

the alternator of a car sends sends spikes of electrical current that your MPEM doesn't like and will cook it. just because you get 2 beeps, doesn't mean it's working properly, if you get spark, then it's probably working properly.

also, where am i looking to turn it over by hand? just don't have the motor in front of me, so i can't look...
