GTX DI problem

I just purchased two 2002 GTX DI skis. One runs great but one has problems. The ski has two beeps when I install the DESS and it starts great. When I run it with a hose connected it revs normally but when I put it in the water it will only rev to 3000 rpms and only go 10 miles per hour. There are no beeps or warnings on the dash. Because I have two identical skis I have been able to compare a few things. The compression is 125 to 130 on both engines. The charging systems both read between 13.8 and 14 volts at 3500 rpm. Because there are no warning beeps or lights I don't think it is in limp home mode. Does any one have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Those skis have a learning key. are you using that key? Also, 130/125 compression is low, but it should still be going faster than 10mph.

I have a 2000 GTX that was doing the same thing. I took it to the shop and they opened the rear electrical box and it was full of water (they said.) They replaced the corroded connectors and it now runs great.

Dr Honda. Thanks for the reply. I am not using the learning key. I did try the learning key on the good running ski and it will do 30 mph and rev to 4500 rpms. As far as the compression, I am not sure how accurate my gauge is but because the good running ski has the same compression I will not worry about that for now.

uinta_rob. Thank you for the suggestion. I will clean those connections tonight.

So tonight I removed the rear electrical box cover. Everything was dry and clean. As long as I was in there I checked the resistance of the coils. Both were right on spec. I then removed the AMP connector from the MPEM and checked the primary resistance from the MPEM connectors. Once again both were good. I appreciate the help so far and welcome any other ideas.
