Hello Seadoo forum...

My wife ran over the sand bag anchor string, before she passed the "no wake" about 40 ft from beach...she turned around and said there is a lot of shaking. I was able to unwrap and remove the string. Sandbag anchor has plastic clips on end of string. GTR 215 able to idle back to launch ramp but pressing the gas cause a lot of vibration and no acceleration. Do you think it's a damaged wear ring, damaged impeller, or bent drive shaft? I posted some pics. Does the carbon ring look damaged? Please help experts.

I don't see any obvious issues with the impeller or wear ring. It is very common for things to fall out of the pump area when you pull it from the water. What I would do is launch it and test I again. Generally, the CS does not cause a vibration itself but can allow for cavitation which will cause vibrations. I would be shocked if he CS failed at the exact same moment you have an issue with the line.

Thanks for the reply... If wear ring and impeller looks ok... What do you think caused the shaking and unable to accelerate. I also took off the intake crate... Can I just use blue loctite on the screws? Also am I suppose to use a silicon sealant when installing the intake crate back on? Thanks again for your time.

There could have been a small piece of the line or part of the clip in the impeller area that fell out when you pulled the boat. If your grate bolt hoes do not go all the way through the hull, you do not need it for a test run. If they do, put the bolts in it and go for a test run. I think you need to go for a run to see if in fact you still have an issue.. I use blue on pretty much everything. It has always served me well.

Typically, sucking up a rope means a new impeller, which yours look good, an new Wear ring or a new drive shaft. You're in the right area. You just have to figure it out. But once you've done a good cleaning of all areas involved, you might find she runs like new.

So my wear ring and impeller looks good... Do you think the drive shaft got bent that quickly? She was able to idle back to shore from 40 ft (never passing no wake zone). Since the engine never choked itself out... Is this a good sign? I just hope Coastiejoe scenario is correct and it was just the plastic clips stuck in the impeller ... Causing vibration and no acceleration.

Don't waste time worrying about this. Unless you pull things apart, based on the pics you provided, we can't "guess" any better than you if the shaft is fine or not.

Take it for a test ride. You will know if you have an issue, trust me on that.

Take a good look in the hull for any standing water. Go for a ride. Come back to the dock, look in the hull again. Any vibrations and or more water than what you started with would indicate an issue.
