Hi Guys I am new to this forum and have a lot of experiece rebuilding cars but very little when it comes to marine craft so excuse my ignorance as I post several questions. Ok so I my family owns a 2015 GTR 215. Awesome ski, this thing has performed incredibly well with very few issues up until today. I was out riding with some friends and the gulf was so flat it looked like glass. We were pushing 65-66 mph, all was well, boat passed me, I slowed down a bit to take the take the wake It threw, got some decent air time, came down in the pocket smoothly before the next wave and then out of no where the rpms revved up super high as if the impeller was not getting resistance from water and the craft completely stopped moving with zero thrust. Check engine light came on. I immediately shut her down, let her cool for a second and then turned her back on. When at idle in neutral she sounded fine but when I gave her gas and revved it up A) the machine went nowhere and b) it sounded almost like a belt was loose or something was rattling. My friend towed me to the nearest dock and once I got tied up I popped the seat off for a quick visual. When I turned the engine on water began to spray from what I think is the impeller shaft ( center of craft where there is a rise in fiberglass, a boot and a shaft). Not like a massive amount of water but if I turned a hose bib on an covered it up 95 percent of the way with my thumb. About that pressure and that amount of water. After some quick googling and reading this forum my novice self would say That a good place to start is by pulling the pump tomorrow and checking its condition and the condition of the wear ring for cavitation. But I also read that you can blow the splines on the impeller shaft. So here's my question. Before I get this thing back tomorrow from the dock are the issues I am describing pushing anyone to believe it is most likely a specific malfunction or is what I'm describing very generic and common? Thanks everyone, your advice is much appreciated and I am excited to dig into the ski tomorrow! Oh also! After my friend towed me, I turned her on real quick and everything seemed fine. I slowly made some circles but when I approached about 10mph it just popped almost as if it went into neutral and again zero thrust, rattling sound and then threw a high exhaust temp on the dash.
