Hi Guys am new to the forum and the whole jetski scene so please....be gentle :)

I purchased a 2012 GTI130 with only 4 hours on the clock. On my first run out I noticed that once I pressed the stop switch after having a short run that when I pressed the button again to fire it up again that there was no power, no display, no beeps...dead. I tried with the key on and off the DESS post, tried the beginners key, but nothing just dead. After leaving it a while, say a few minutes, pressed the button again and display came on, and was able to start it. Only did it the once thought the whole day.

Checked all connections and nothing obvious appeared loose. Left in the garage for about a week and I checked every morning and evening just to see whether power would come on. All week it was fine, then on the FRiday experienced the same problem....dead. Checked connections again (taking into account it hadn't moved). Went away then came back a few minutes later and it was fine.

Went out again and seemed to be even worse, whenever I stopped the ski it wouldn't power up. Went to dealer for the 10 hour service and they could find nothing wrong, no errors or anything. Went out again this weekend, fired up no problems, had a good half hour run then going back to shore stopped ski. Tried to start it again, no power.....went on for a few minutes pressing the power....no luck. Then burst into life. From then on in every time I stopped it after a run without fail it would not start until I left it for a while. Back in the garage and again powers up every time.

It seems as though when it's warm the problem is worse. Any ideas guys?

Read the owners manual, I think you are just trying to start it out of order. First, push the start/stop button, THEN attach the dess key, then try to start

Yeah I tried the start/stop button without the key on at all (since dealer said the same), then for giggles tried it with the key(s) on. Its just not powering up, no display, no beeps. Getting it straight off the ramp as well, no key, press the start and again dead (same same with no display). Wait 5-10 minutes then it seems to be good again (usually).

Some MUST have the button pressed first to "wake up" the ski. If you don't do this, even installing the key does nothing. So try the PUSH BUTTON method first and see if that does what you need..

Thanks for the assistance. I am probably not explaining myself overly well so apologies. Unfortunately I am just pushing the button with no key to try and get it to wake up....and its just not waking up (no clicking from the engine bay etc), not even getting to the stage where I can put the key onto the DESS post. Just no display...nada.

As i mentioned seems to be really bad if the ski has been running, at the weekend did it every single time I stopped after a 20 minute+ ride...wait for 5 or 10 minutes (no key on post just hitting the Start/Stop button, waiting for a while...trying again..etc etc). Has never cut out whilst riding just trying to get it to wake up.

Cheers for all your help guys.

This ski has gotta still be under warranty. If it was mine I would take it to the dealer, if it's operator error have him explain it to you. If it's a problem get it fixed under warranty, this shouldn't be your problem.

Yeah took it to the dealer for its service and let them know...they never found anything (as it now appears it presents itself more when its actually been running). Will get it dropped off again and insist that they fix whatever is wrong with it...rather that than suffer being stranded out at sea....again :)
