got a 2002 gti le and ran it all day. then all of a sudden it stalled. i had filled the machine 3 times and did not put in any oil as i was told it was self injecting. (new to the seadoo world) so at first i thought it stalled as a safety feature for no oil. i put in about 2 litres of oil and it took a while to start but it did start. took it for a nice ride and shut it down to test if it started and it did, i thought the problem was fixed. next morning i took it out for a ride and it stalled out in the middle of the lake. tried to start it when i finally got back to shore and nothing just a clicking sound which made me think of the battery (which is new|) but tried boosting it anyways and still the same click, so now i think it may be the starter but that would not cause it to stall out on the the lake. would it??? took it in the marina but they will not look at it until next week and i am just wondering some possible problems, major or minor??? i hate not knowing things.
any help would be great!!!

Ok just checking. You're fine there then. Did it quit running while you hit some wake or just casual cruising? I think your stalling issue due to the low oil and the stalling and then clicking when you try to start it may be unrelated. Check your grounds to make sure they are all tight and no corrosion.

the lake was pretty rough this weekend. and we were hiting waves pretty good. never even thought about the ground wires (like i stated before i am new to the boating/seadoo world) i was just worried it was a seized engine and a major repair.

Can't rule that out just yet but lets focus on the easy and less expensive things. If this checks out good And your battery is good (boosting a bad battery with a good one is often useless) and the grounds and starter connections are good then you need to turn over the engine by hand. This can be done 2 ways. One is by removing the pump and turning the driveshaft by hand and the other is by removing the spark plugs and pushing down on the piston with a wooden dowel or long socket extension (never hammer on either. Either it pushes down or it doesn't)

I'm confused, 4TEC engines are 4-strokes and don't have any need for oil in the gas. Is your 2002 gti le a 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine? If it's a 2-stroke engine you will get better more knowledgeable responses in the 2-stroke forum. If it's a 4TEC 4-stroke engine then just what are you adding oil to?

It does however sound very much like an electrical issue, something's not making good contact or a battery cable is bad possibly. Also you could be having a starter relay going bad, though that wouldn't explain why it died on you it would only explain why you're getting nothing but clicking when you try to start it with a fully charged battery.

KK- the battery is new just put it in May 21st.
thanks for your time and responces i will keep you posted

Michael - it is a 2 stroke. on one side i have the gas fill up and on the other side of my hood i have the oil fill. i am just hoping it is not a major problem. if the oil ran low then i would get some sort of warning correct?

I have no idea regarding 2-stroke operation, this is a 4-stroke forum for 4TEC powered SeaDoo PWC's. There is a seperate 2-stroke PWC forum. You need to post in the 2-stroke forum for questions regarding a 2-stroke powered SeaDoo PWC.
