I am considering this Garmin GPSMAP 76 handheld.
It says it has trip computer, marine point database, course variation program etc. And you can download maps. Just sounds like it will do a good job and since its waterproof it sounded like a good one.
Many will call me an idiot BUT I put my phone in a press seal, clear sandwich bag it it works a treat.It's got all the info I need and a blonde as the screen to look at along the way.A year and a half I've been doing this.Can check the speedo at the same time.Funy thing though.The altitude never seems to change.
I like the Hummingbird GPS. They are simple and provide good features at a competitive price. Look for the models with the maps included. This is feature that saves money - Usually with NVB in the part number.
