Wife and I bought a house, and we are getting out of the hobby. 20+ skis need to go. 5 of them are genuine article 95 xp800s. We have lots of parts, and a ton of this stuff is FREE! Everything is registered and in my name.

Open to offers or trades. Looking for a tri5 Chevy, 67-68 GMC/Chevy short bed, or any classic Ford pickup. PM Me.

Cheers,

Ben

Hi Sabr, pics to come. If you look at my previous threads, many of the skis are unchanged. Here's an inventory:

1996 GTI, runner with a jet trim seat and a fresh motor
1997 GTS, project with electronics and clean hull, motor is junk and will be recycled
2 x 1999 GTX LTDs. One is a runner with brand new carbs, the other is not running (needs an MPEM, I have two spares on hand) both of these need to have the fuel systems refurbished, excellent compression.
1995 HX - I pulled the top end off for a rebuild, but it was running with good compression when I pulled it apart. Too much beer that weekend.
1992 SP "sleeper" - has a 720 and a different pump, presently disassembled.
1995 SPX - presently disassembled, but I have a BRAND NEW 657x motor in the box to restore this ski. The motor is probably the last factory-new unit in existence. My plan was to put the motor in a display case. and rebuild the top end on the motor the ski came with.
1997 SPX - runner with a brand new trim housing and carbs.
3 x 1996 XPs - one has a good running engine with low hours, but I pulled the ski apart to restore it (thread is here on SDF) the other 2 are builders with a ton of good parts.
3 x XP800s - 1 X-motor, the other two are standard 787s. All 3 need to be built. Two of them are complete and untouched, one is a former race ski with an engine that could easily be put back together but is not period correct (thread here on SDF.) The other 2 I had are gone as of this afternoon.
There are also a few parts skis without paper (but confirmed clean with AZ fish and game)
a few extra motors laying around.

There are also 3 polaris skis... I bought a 4-up Zieman trailer, and these skis were part of the deal. I dont mess with Polaris stuff, so I have not worked on them. I have confirmed that compression is good. Plan was to flip these, but it never materialized. They were last on the water two years ago. I bought them from a young lady who needed the money to bail her husband out of jail.

Other stuff - lots of pumps, NOS and used MPEMs... and a really cool factory kit (in original packaging) to add DESS to the early HX skis. I also have a Vidmar box full of specialty seadoo tools.

Lots of early race stuff - factory pipes, westcoast stuff, heads - and a lot of things I cant remember.

I also have a licensed BUDS system with OEM hardware, and I can include a laptop to make it turn key.

I'm sure I'm missing a lot of stuff... I have a 35' indoor storage unit and a covered 45' RV unit, all of it is filled with seadoo stuff.

In terms of trailers, here's what I have:
4 place zieman with brand new winches
2 place shorelandr (ugly but functional with new bunks) Axle was rebuilt with all new parts.
2 place zieman (needs a paint job, but very solid.) New tires, bearings and hubs.
single place trailer (cant remember the brand, but very well built - also needs paint)

Everything has a stand if it's not on a trailer.

To reiterate, this is not really a for sale thread, I want to trade, and I know a lot of you guys are into cars. I forgot to mention that I also like Mopar stuff and everything Ford.

At this point, I probably have $50k into this hobby. I'll trade the whole lot for a classic project car or truck, valued somewhere in the $30k range. Not sure if there are any musicians on the site, but I play and collect classical guitars, and I'm always looking to add new instruments to my collection. Favorite Luthiers are from Spain and Paracha, but I'm open to just about any investment-grade instrument as long as it is carries a verifiable appraisal.

The reason I'm getting out of this is that my storage is expensive, and the wife and I haven't been on the water in a couple of years. Unfortunately, it's so hot here in AZ that the lakes are getting nasty, and we just don't enjoy it anymore.

Cheers,

Ben

I only fool with rare aftermarket 2-stroke performance stuff. I agree that Minnetonka4me would be interested.

Matt Braley - Hey Matt, I don't have anything super-cool, but I have some factory pipes, sponsons, R&D trim tabs & hull extensions, and various other items. I also have some WestCoast Performance stuff... new/OEM in the original packaging. Not sure if that is your cup of tea, but just wanted to throw it out there.

Also - Licensed BUDS! if anyone is interested, just let me know.

Cheers,

Ben

That sounds like great stuff and I couldn't turn down a deal on it. However that's what I would call your "sugar" and it may be useful in getting someone to bite on the whole package. I would work your local advertising first like Craigslist and FB marketplace to see if you can lure some local with cash in his pocket to "get into the business".

I've decided to change my strategy... I'm going to get every ski in running condition this winter and sell during the spring. I need to have somewhere around 15 engines built back to factory spec. I wont be running the skis aside from a test fire, and the work is off-season. I will require a transferable warranty to the new owner upon sale. If there is anyone on this board whom owns a business and is interested in the work, please let me know.

At this volume and off-season, I'd be looking for some aggressive discounting. I will be issuing an RFP (Request for Proposal) with all of the details.

The motors will need to be shipped as palatalized freight to make it economical. Time frame will be 45 days, delivery to receipt.

If there are any companies on the forum who might be interested in the work, please PM me, and I will send a copy of the RFP when it is prepared.

Cheers,

Ben

I can tell you nobody will be willing to do that and especially to OEM spec. You are looking at close to $1000 per engine. I don’t think investing $15k just to flip the skis would be worth the trouble in my opinion. If you go OEM plan on at least $1200 per engine or more.

The large shops like SBT, SES and fullbore aren’t going to give you a discount when they can do 15 individual ones at full price all winter long. But you can call them. And any small shop will never get it done or offer any warranty.

Don’t forget carb and fuel system rebuild and odds and ends not to mention any labor.

I see you investing closer to $18k once is all said and done just to sell some used skis.

Agreed, sounds like a horrible idea. People value these old skis less and less every year, used Spark prices are sliding down under 3K here and there. In this region there are running skis under a grand that aren't selling.

I bet there is a lot of good left in those "bad" engines. I find good deals on gaskets and seals and then open up failed engines to see what is actually wrong with it. Most of the time you can make one good engine out of two bad ones.

Warranty?!?! No way! The last thing anyone wants hanging over there head is being responsible for what happens to a 20 year old watercraft in a newbie's hands.
