Gelcoat repair

Has anyone used the following product for gelcoat repair.

yes, just follow int mixing directions. The hardest part is matching the color.

Can't I just add black? Also, it says to use 600 grit paper should I use 800 or 1000 as well? Last question, is it possible to hand buff or do I need more.
