gauges on 96 xp

does anyone know of an easy way to remove gauges from 96 xp or is there a special tool to get the nut off

yeah i am still having trouble with this had old guage and chewed it all up trying to get it out of the hood any help would be appreciated or even ideas on a special tool to get in there with
