gauges erratic after high speed run

Took my GTX 787 for a ride last night, after rewinding and repairing stator. Was ok for the first hour or so, but did a high speed run of the lake, when i turned to run in the other direction, i noticed the analogue tacho dropped to o, while the speedo was stuck on about 40 mph when i was only going about 20.

The ski was running fine so I kept riding at 4-5k rpm range for about 3 minutes, then the gauges started to work again.

Did the high speed run overcharge the battery, did i have a high voltage problem. Rectifier dodgy?

I would check the output of the regulator... and the output of the new stator if you hand, rewound it. The output voltage may be too high.

Many thanks, i checked stator statically, got .6 ohms per winding, think the rectifier might be struggling at the higher rpm range, but thinking of it could the same symptoms be caused by undercharging, and the 2-3 min of crusing be enough to bring the battery up to charge?

Many thanks,

.............and the 2-3 min of crusing be enough to bring the battery up to charge?

Depends if the battery was good to begin with... and how dead it was. BUT... that's probably not enough time even on a good battery.
