Fuel selector bypass. Is this right?

Sure, that would be fine as long as you don't end up with a bilge with fuel in it you're doing good. I'd choose a bolt that fits well (5/8" or 1/4"?) and has a section on the shank with no threads to tighten the hose clamp onto, that shouldn't leak....

Meant 5/16", but you knew that. NO FUEL LEAKS! :)

Finally!!! I had an entire weekend riding. Ran like a champ! I have already ordered another selector valve to put in it but am contemplating just leaving it bypassed. I mean, I am constantly checking out my gas gauge anyhow with the way this thing sucks gas lol!!!
 
I would def put a new selector on it. Cant beat the peace of mind. If you run out on the lake, you are F'd. YOu never know how accurate those gauges are anyways
