1995 Seadoo SP. I am rebuilding/updating the fuel and oil systems before I sell it. New mikuni carb kits and needle and seat’s new fuel lines, fuel selector fuel filter etc. I did not get a complete fuel filter assembly just the fuel filter itself. The fuel filter housing has a hole in it indicated by the red arrow that either shouldn’t be there or I don’t know what it’s for. The big hole by the green arrow is the fuel “in” the yellow arrow points to the fuel “out” hole which is not visible from this angle and the red arrow points to the hole that also goes into the fuel “out” and is on the outside of the fuel filter screen and looks like it would not be filtered. Is there something I’m missing or is this part defective? Thanks for any help JimIMG_8178.JPG

Hi Jim,

I just checked an OEM filter assembly I have on the shelf and it is the same as what you have there. The part is not defective. I honestly don't know why it is built this way. I agree that it looks like the filter can be bypassed to some extent.

I have seen material in the screen in the carbs and wondered how it got past that water seperator/filter with the fine mesh. This might answer that question.

Yeah when I sprayed into the outlet port with brake cleaner it came out both the “yellow” and The unfiltered “red” port. So to me it seems like unfiltered fuel can make it through but again maybe there is something I’m missing. Thank you very much for your reply. JIM

Yes I did replace the O-ring. I also did a pressure check and a vacuum check on the fuel filter assembly. Thank you for your help. JIM
