FS: Lost of Seadoo usedpistons in good shape.

I've got a ton of pistons accumulated from several years of PWC salvage. I'm cleaning them with scotchbrite and checking over pretty good. I'll included the rings if they look good, but of course, you should use new rings. I'll cull thru them pretty well, I won't bother to list any that are cracked, bent, or other wise damaged. The several I have gone thru so far look great with only very minor scarring on the sides if any, none I can actually feel with my finger. Let me know what you need, I'm sure I have 787 and 787 RFI, probably a few 717 too. I'll post pics shortly.

787 and 717 are the same piston The 787 has longer stroke, hence it's greater displacement.

If you put pistons from a 787 into a 717 the skirts will slap the crank and bye bye motor, yes they measure the same across and will use the same wrist pin and caged bearing but the 787 cant go into a 717,

I bought all of his 787 pistons which was 6 of them and one was for a 650, most of them had bad scoring. I was assuming when he said he checked for damage that would include scoring. I think 3 of the 787 pistons may be usable. My advise is buy new. I just bought 2 new wsm pistons with rings for $70 shipped on ebay

I would say out of all of them none were REALLY good

Half of them went right into the scrap pile

No problem, since he never posted pictures i will. Here is a few pics and all those lines are scoring alot of them are real deep, the darker the line the deeper the groove, my fingernail caught in every piston, some werent bad(3) but the others were bad, these 2 were the worst.

Anyone who has ever pulled out a piston that looked like this, will know what these feel like. The grooves are deep and is hard to show in the picture. Im sure alot of guys on this forum will know how bad these are instantly just by seeing these pictures. These are meant to go in the scrap bin and never see an engine again. Its partialy my fault for buying used pistons. Dont worry wont happen again. I have in the past replaced pistons that look like this with better pistons. I thought i could buy these and throw them on the shelf for future projects, but staight to the trash for these.

Wow thats no good they are definitely scrap I tried to buy used one time never again. I actually just got a great deal on some wiseco pistons on pwctoday for my xp

Looks like those pistons are junk, but you can fix them with a bit of JB Weld. lol

The seller was a stand up guy and gave me a refund. I did not contact him and ask for a refund. He did it on his own.

In reality, what would be the harm if somone was to use a piston like that? I have a motor that ran out of oil. I realized the oil light was not working when the ski ran out of it and just died in the water. Tore the top end down to find one piston in not-so-good shape. The other is fine, as it was the one with the longer oil line. The pipe-volume of the longer line helped save the PTO piston, but the MAG got a bit scored. The scoring is only on some of the side of the piston, not all. The grooves are fine and not very deep. The ring cavity is clean. If the piston isn't out of spec dimensionally, what would be the harm in just putting new rings on it and saying "Good riddence"? The piston maybe had two or three fuel tanks on it after I put it in new...

With the money you have in your ski why would you chance it with a scored piston your taking the chance at a skirt breaking and ruining the crank and maybe cases. My outlook is why take the chance just my 2cents
